THE OK CORRAL

Our version of "The Gunfight at the OK Corral" was written in such a way that performers unfamiliar with it could play the lead roles with just five minutes of instruction. This allowed visiting celebrities to take part in it. Sometimes, this made for some strange casting. Here, Nick Adams, as "The Rebel", is playing Wyatt Earp. On the left, Ricky Silva is Doc Holliday. In the center, Roy Gillum is Virgil Earp. And on the ground, Mike Swaim is a dead Tom McClowry. In the background, Jim Babcock can be seen hightailing it out of town on horseback as Ike Clanton. "I was the young Billy Clanton taking the final shot in the 'Gunfight at the OK Corral'. As I took the fatal bullet I would slam into the corral wall and with my last breath, turn lose the mouthful of red food coloring, fire one final shot into the ground, arch my body and fall face down into the dirt. The audience would gasp. I learned that final sequence of events by watching the best Billy Clanton actor of them all, Jerry Vance." Thom Bresh
